An open invitation to you all to attend the launch of a revised edition of a classic New Zealand WWI book - Tales of Three Campaigns.
Weds 8 April, Nelson College hall, 6pm, followed by supper. RSVP to Sarah Barnes email@example.com
The original was written in 1926 by Major Cyprian Bridge Brereton, the commander of the 12th (Nelson) Company. This company of the Canterbury Infantry Battalion saw action in the Battle for the Suez in January 1915 (during which NZ lost its first life in combat), at Gallipoli, and on the Western Front - the three campaigns of the title. This revised edition has Cyp's original text with new photos, maps and biography. It also contains what we are terming the fourth campaign - the love story between Cyp and his then fiancee Daisy, who made her way to war-torn Europe to find him after he was injured at Gallipoli, so honouring a promise that she would go to him if he needed her.
