Nelson History by Karen Stade
  • Moving Towards Armistice Day

Four years of working on World War One centennial history is coming to an end as we edge closer to Armistice Day. This morning at Nelson's Church Steps I joined a group of people who have worked to build up a database of the names of those men and women from the Nelson region who served during WWI unfurled a vinyl replica of our Founders Park WWI Wall of Remembrance. This will be displayed at the Top of Trafalgar Street on Armistice Day, Sunday 11 November. Check it out on the day and see displays by the Nelson Historical Society about Nelson's experience of the end of World War I. Here's a story about it from Radio New Zealand's Nelson reporter Tracy Neal, who also took this photo.  https://goo.gl/vHUWYe
